  • A valid photo ID (e.g. passport or driving licence)

  • Proof of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training completed within the past 12 months

What’s Changed in the New SIA Top-Up Refresher?

The SIA has introduced new training requirements to reflect the current landscape of security work. Our updated Top-Up Refresher Course now includes:

  • Terror Threat Awareness – Learn how to spot and respond to suspicious behaviours and situations.

  • Vulnerability Awareness – Understand how to support members of the public who may be at risk, including those affected by spiking or alcohol-related harm.

  • Enhanced Physical Intervention – Develop practical skills for managing conflict in a safe, controlled way.

These additions replace the previous version of the Top-Up course and are now mandatory for licence renewal.
