    Course overview

Through our national network of first aid trainers, we can deliver your first aid course on site throughout the country. Our in house first aid training is fully accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).

What are the benefits of in house first aid training for your business?

    • Save money by buying in bulk. We could save you up to £40 per person by delivering first aid courses on site.
    • Train your employees on a date and time that suits your company.
    • Control your own learning environment by hosting your workplace training in house at your training venues.
    • Save time by getting your employees qualified at the same time whilst dealing with one workplace training provider.
    • Encourage interaction and bonding between your internal staff.
    • Promote a culture where your team are confident in dealing with medical emergencies.

How many first aiders does your workplace need?

Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, every employer must carry out a first aid needs assessment and provide adequate cover. The right number depends on your workplace risk level and how many people you employ — the HSE guidelines below are a useful starting point:

Workplace risk Number of employees Suggested minimum first aid provision
Lower hazard (offices, shops) Fewer than 25 At least one appointed person
Lower hazard 25–50 At least one EFAW-trained first aider
Lower hazard More than 50 One FAW first aider per 100 employed
Higher hazard (construction, manufacturing, warehousing) Fewer than 5 At least one appointed person
Higher hazard 5–50 At least one EFAW or FAW first aider
Higher hazard More than 50 One FAW first aider per 50 employed

Appointed person vs first aider: an appointed person takes charge of first aid arrangements — calling the emergency services and looking after the first aid kit — but is not a trained first aider. A first aider holds a current Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate.

Our First Aid at Work and Level 3 Paediatric First Aid courses are RQF-regulated, Ofqual-recognised qualifications. Certificates are valid for three years, with an annual refresher recommended by the HSE. Not sure what you need? Speak to our team and we will help you complete your needs assessment.

All staff who participated in the in-house first aid training gave very positive feedback; fantastic instructors who delivered quality training. A cost-effective solution for our company, and one that we recommend to other employers. Thank you so much.
