Is the refresher right for you?
This one-day refresher is for managers and supervisors who have already completed the full IOSH Managing Safely course. It builds on your earlier learning and gives you time to review how you manage risk in your current role.
You will join a trainer and other learners live on Zoom. The course uses a plan–do–check–act approach to help you review safety arrangements and identify practical improvements.
New to Managing Safely? Choose the full three-day course first. The refresher is not a substitute for the original course.

What you will refresh
Six areas help you revisit the essentials and apply them to your current responsibilities.
- Thinking back: revisit key ideas from Managing Safely and consider how you have used them.
- Leadership: explore how your actions and communication influence safety at work.
- Plan: review policy, priorities and how to turn intentions into action.
- Do: practise risk assessment and consider how to involve your team in managing risks.
- Check: identify useful performance information and review what it tells you.
- Act: learn from findings and decide what to improve next.
Joining your live online refresher
Before you book
You must have completed the full IOSH Managing Safely course and provide your original certificate number. If you cannot find it, speak to us before booking so we can check the next step.
On the day
Allow a full day for the course; our published course duration is eight hours. Your joining instructions will confirm the timings. You will receive joining instructions and a separate Zoom link by email. Join at the stated time to take part in the live training and assessment.
Plan a quiet place to learn and a reliable internet connection. Contact us before booking if you need help with access or learning arrangements.
Assessment and certificate
You will complete an end-of-course multi-format assessment. Successful learners receive the IOSH Managing Safely Refresher certificate.

Refresher course questions
How much does the refresher cost?
The price is £204 including VAT (£170 + VAT) per learner. Contact us to confirm the next available course and booking arrangements.
Is this self-paced e-learning?
No. This is live, trainer-led learning on Zoom. You attend at scheduled times, take part in the course and complete the assessment.
Does my original certificate expire?
No. IOSH Managing Safely certificates do not expire. IOSH recommends refreshing your knowledge every three to five years, and your employer may have its own requirements.
What if I cannot find my original certificate number?
Contact our team before booking with the details of your previous Managing Safely course. We will explain what needs to be checked before you can join the Refresher.
Can I attend if my original course was more than three years ago?
Speak to us with your previous course details and certificate number before booking. The date alone does not mean your original IOSH certificate has expired.
Can I join without completing Managing Safely first?
No. You need to have completed the full course. View the three-day IOSH Managing Safely course if you are a new learner.
