Make one clear plan for your group

A private workplace enquiry is useful when you know which colleagues need training and want to discuss one arrangement for them. Include the course, numbers, preferred dates and the postcode of your Widnes premises. If some learners are renewing certificates, mention their existing qualification and expiry dates as well.

For an individual course place, use the public finder to select the qualification and explore venues and dates. EFAW can also be taken for practical emergency skills in everyday life. Read the course preparation information with the learner before arranging attendance.

Practical first aid skills for work and everyday life

You will do more than listen to a presentation. Your instructor demonstrates first aid techniques, then helps you practise them with the training equipment.

  • Work through practical situations. Practise responding to an emergency, CPR and using an AED.
  • Ask questions as you learn. Discuss the techniques and how you might use them at work or in everyday situations.
  • Demonstrate your skills. Successful completion includes assessment of your first aid knowledge and practical competence.

Training in Widnes

What should we send for a Widnes workplace quote?

Include the course, learner numbers, postcode and preferred dates. If people are renewing certificates, provide their qualification names and expiry dates as well.

How do I find an individual public course?

Open the main first aid course and venue finder, choose the qualification and explore its listed venues and dates. You can book as an individual rather than through a workplace group.

Can we arrange a private course for a small team?

Yes. There is no minimum group size. We quote a fixed fee for the agreed course and group, and discuss the practical setup before confirming arrangements.

Choosing your course

Can I learn first aid for everyday life rather than work?

Yes. You can book your own place on a public Emergency First Aid at Work course for personal learning. CPR, using an AED, helping someone who is choking and managing bleeding are useful skills beyond the workplace, too. You do not need to be sent by an employer. The qualification remains Emergency First Aid at Work and includes assessment. If your main focus is babies and children, compare the paediatric options.

Do I need Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work?

Your employer’s first aid needs assessment should guide the choice. EFAW covers core emergency skills, while FAW covers a broader range of injuries and illnesses. Workplace hazards, working patterns and the people needing cover all matter; a job title alone does not decide the course. Compare first aid courses →

How long does the training take?

EFAW takes one practical training day. Our blended FAW course combines six hours of e-learning with two practical days; complete the online part before attending. FAW requalification takes two days. Check your chosen course and joining instructions for session times. Explore EFAW → Explore FAW →

Can I complete first aid training entirely online?

Emergency First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work and paediatric first aid include practical training and assessment, so you attend those sessions in person. Blended FAW and full paediatric courses include an online element before the practical sessions. Our Level 3 Workplace Mental Health First Aid course is available live online as well as on site.

Is your EFAW course suitable before SIA training?

Yes. Our standard EFAW course includes the additional practical training on life-threatening bleeding and keeping airways open required before SIA door supervisor or security guard training. Your first aid certificate must have at least 12 months remaining when the SIA licence-linked training starts. Check the EFAW course →

Which first aid course should I consider for babies and children?

Compare full Level 3 Paediatric First Aid with Emergency Paediatric First Aid against your role and employer’s requirements. Full blended paediatric training includes six hours online and one practical day. The emergency paediatric course takes one day. The course cards show the relevant public or on-site delivery options.

Your training and qualification

What certificate will I receive?

Successful EFAW and FAW learners receive an FAIB-accredited certificate, valid for three years. You must complete the training and meet the assessment requirements. Full paediatric first aid has a different award: the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).

When should I renew my first aid qualification?

EFAW and FAW certificates last three years. Plan renewal before the expiry date. EFAW renewal repeats the one-day course; existing FAW certificate holders can ask about the two-day requalification course. If your certificate has expired, contact us before booking to confirm the appropriate route. Ask about FAW requalification →

Does an annual refresher renew my certificate?

No. Annual refresher training helps you keep skills current, but it does not extend your EFAW or FAW certificate. HSE recommends refresher training between qualifications; you still need the appropriate renewal course before your certificate expires. Annual first aid refresher →

Can you help with access or learning requirements?

Contact us before booking so we can discuss the venue, practical assessment and any support you need. Include your chosen course and venue in the enquiry so we can check the arrangements that apply to your booking. Contact our course advisers →

What space do we need for on-site first aid training?

You will need a suitable room with seating and enough clear space for practical exercises. Tell us your group size and any access requirements when enquiring so we can confirm the room and equipment arrangements for your course. Discuss workplace training →

Can our team take mental health first aid training?

Yes. Our most popular option is the two-day Level 3 Workplace Mental Health First Aid course, available live online or on site. This Qualsafe qualification covers recognising signs of poor mental health and supporting conversations about wellbeing. View the Level 3 course or compare all mental health courses.
