The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a nationally recognised CITB qualification designed for construction professionals who manage, plan, or coordinate site operations. It is widely recognised by contractors, developers, and local authorities across West Yorkshire and the UK as an essential benchmark for competent site leadership.
This course is delivered in an online live classroom with a CITB-approved trainer, giving you full real-time interaction, group participation, and expert support from any suitable location. This modern delivery approach mirrors a traditional classroom experience while offering the convenience and flexibility needed by today’s construction workforce.
For companies with six or more delegates, we can also deliver the complete SMSTS programme on site at your Bradford workplace. Both training routes follow the full CITB syllabus and lead to the same officially recognised SMSTS certificate.

Entry Requirements
This course is delivered in English only. Delegates must have a strong level of written and spoken English to participate fully and complete all assessments. If you have concerns about suitability, please get in touch before booking.
Course Materials
All learners receive the official CITB Construction Site Safety GE700 publication along with additional handouts used throughout the course. These resources are yours to keep and support ongoing best practice on site.
Assessment
To successfully achieve your SMSTS qualification, you must:
- Attend all five training days
- Participate in live discussions and group activities
- Complete daily knowledge checks
- Pass the final multiple-choice exam
The assessment structure ensures you understand the legal, practical, and managerial responsibilities required for safe site operations.
Qualification & Renewal
After successfully completing the course, you will receive the CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS Certificate, valid for five years. This qualification is widely required for supervisory and management roles across the construction industry.
To renew your qualification, you must complete the 2-day SMSTS Refresher Course before your certificate expires.
