CITB Site Safety Plus
Training for construction supervisors
Skills Training Group customer reviews
This course is for site supervisors who have already passed SSSTS or an SSSTS Refresher and hold a valid certificate. It updates your existing knowledge rather than starting from the beginning.
Check the expiry date on your certificate before choosing a course date. You must complete the refresher before that date; there is no grace period after expiry.
First SSSTS course, or certificate expired? Book the full two-day SSSTS course instead. If you cannot find your certificate or are unsure about eligibility, contact us before booking.

Revisit the responsibilities of a site supervisor, discuss updates and use interactive scenarios to apply your knowledge.
Responsibilities, communication, site briefings and promoting safe behaviour.
The legal framework, CDM responsibilities, risk assessment and method statements.
Occupational health risks, hazardous substances, wellbeing and welfare arrangements.
Site set-up, access, fire precautions, plant and everyday site controls.
Work at height, excavations, confined spaces and other work needing specific controls.
Preventing pollution, managing waste and understanding environmental responsibilities.
The refresher includes mandatory exercises and an interactive scenario to connect the learning to site supervision.
Join scheduled classes with an instructor and other supervisors. You can ask questions, take part in discussions and work through practical examples. This is live teaching, not self-paced e-learning.
Attend the full course from a suitable, quiet space. You need to be available throughout the training and assessment, rather than joining around site duties.
Our published course hours are 8:30am–5pm (UK time). Check the exact schedule in your joining instructions. Remote classes have a maximum of 12 learners.
Successful completion leads to a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate. Ask our team about certificate delivery and any resit charges before booking.
You must attend the full course, complete the mandatory exercises and pass the trainer review, as well as the final assessment.
The relevant course workbook may be used during the final 10 minutes only.
Successful learners receive a CITB SSSTS Refresher certificate, valid for five years. Complete the refresher before the certificate expires to renew it.
The award is a training certificate, not a CSCS card. Training contributes to safe supervision; competence also depends on experience and how you apply your knowledge at work.
CITB permits one resit where you have passed the trainer review, completed the exercises and scored at least 21 out of 30. The resit must normally be taken within 30 days. Ask us about arrangements and any fee.
You cannot use a mobile phone as your only device. Keep your camera on as instructed and make sure the trainer can see you and your work area.
The course and assessment are in English. Tell us before booking if you need help with reading, writing, accessibility or another learning requirement so reasonable adjustments can be discussed.
If you are unsure whether your equipment is suitable, contact us before your course. Check your joining instructions in advance so you have time to resolve any problems.
Read our booking terms for cancellations, transfers and rescheduling.
Use our SSSTS mock test to check your understanding, review explanations and identify topics to revisit.
It is an independent revision tool, not an official CITB exam paper or a guarantee of passing. Use your current course materials for assessment preparation.

Answers to practical questions about eligibility, live online learning, assessment and booking.
No. You must complete the refresher while your current SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate is still valid. There is no grace period. Booking before expiry does not extend your certificate if the course takes place afterwards. If it has expired, choose the full two-day SSSTS course.
Yes. Your eligibility depends on holding a valid CITB SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate, rather than having trained with Skills Training Group before. Send us your certificate details so we can check them before booking.
Use the CITB training record checker to check your record, or contact us for help. Losing the document does not automatically make you ineligible, but we need to verify that your certificate is still valid.
An SMSTS certificate alone does not meet the SSSTS Refresher entry requirement. You need a valid SSSTS or SSSTS Refresher certificate. If you need to renew SMSTS, see the SMSTS Refresher.
The renewed CITB SSSTS certificate is valid for five years. It is a training certificate, not a CSCS card or an NVQ. CSCS cards have separate requirements, so check the card your employer or site requires.
Yes. CITB permits live remote delivery under its Site Safety Plus scheme rules. Our SSSTS Refresher is taught live via Zoom, with an instructor, course exercises and assessment. It is not a self-paced video course. Skills Training Group offers SSSTS training live online only.
Each learner needs their own webcam-enabled laptop or computer, microphone and reliable internet connection. A phone cannot be your only device, and colleagues cannot share one screen. You may attend from the same workplace using individual devices in a suitable quiet space. Have your original photographic ID ready for the identity check.
The course takes 1 day, with published hours of 8:30am–5pm UK time; check your joining instructions for the exact schedule. Full attendance is required. If you arrive late, lose connection or cannot attend, contact us promptly. A recording cannot replace attendance, and any recovery arrangements must be agreed with the team.
Yes, the refresher includes an assessment. It has 25 questions, lasts 30 minutes and requires 24 out of 30 marks to pass. You may use the relevant workbook during the final 10 minutes only. Try our free SSSTS mock test for independent practice; it is not an official CITB paper or a pass guarantee.
You do not have to deliver a toolbox talk on the SSSTS Refresher. You do need to participate, complete the mandatory exercises and interactive scenarios, and pass the trainer review and exam.
If you complete the exercises, pass the trainer review and score at least 21 out of 30, CITB permits one resit, normally within 30 days. A score below 21, or an unsuccessful resit, means taking the course again. Ask us about resit arrangements and any charge; a free resit is not assumed.
Tell us before booking about any learning, accessibility or assessment support you need so reasonable adjustments can be discussed. Training and assessment are in English, and translators cannot be used. If you are worried about the assessment, ask us to explain the format and preparation before choosing your dates.
The published price is £198 excluding VAT / £237.60 including VAT per learner. The course includes instructor-led training, official learning materials, course exercises and assessment. Ask us to confirm refresher availability and the current price before booking. Contact us about certificate delivery or any resit costs.
Yes, employers can enquire about booking several learners. Tell us the number of people and preferred dates. If your business needs an invoice, purchase order or specific payment terms, ask our team to confirm the arrangements before booking.
CITB-registered employers can ask their local CITB adviser about Employer Networks support before booking. Funding depends on eligibility, available budget and CITB’s current rules. Do not assume that the course automatically qualifies for a grant or reimbursement.
Cancellation, transfer and rescheduling conditions are set out in our booking terms and conditions. Contact us as soon as your plans change. When changing a refresher date, make sure you can still complete the training before your certificate expires.
Still unsure? Ask our team before booking.
