Emergency Paediatric First Aid Certification
Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a first aid certificate from the FAIB indicating that they have completed the training and are qualified to provide emergency first aid care for infants and children.

- Recognition and management of asthma and other respiratory emergencies in infants and children
- Bleeding control and management of shock in infants and children
- Recognition and management of diabetes emergencies in infants and children
- Treatment of burns, including electrical burns and chemical burns in infants and children
- Recognition and management of seizures and febrile convulsions in infants and children
- Recognition and management of head injury and concussion in infants and children
- Recognition and management of meningitis and other serious infections in infants and children
- Recognition and management of spinal injury in infants and children
- Recognition and management of croup and pneumonia in infants and children
- Treatment of fractures and broken bones in infants and children
- Recognition and management of dehydration and gastroenteritis in infants and children
- Recognition and management of bites and stings in infants and children
The course will also cover basic first aid skills and protocols for providing care in emergency situations, including how to assess a scene, how to prioritise care, and how to communicate with emergency services.
Exams and assessment
Candidates will be assessed by their trainer throughout the data to ensure that all learning outcomes are achieved.
Successful learners will receive an FAIB-accredited emergency first aid at work qualification.
Entry requirements
Learners who take this course should be 16 or over.
Course overview
Emergency First Aid at Work for Babies and Children includes the following range of topics:
- Making emergency preparations. What would you do if a child in your care was injured or ill?
- Do you have someone who can look after your children if you have to leave them?
- Do you have an easily accessible fully equipped first aid kit?
- Have you completed record forms for the children in your care so that you can take them with you to the hospital?
- Do you have an escape plan in case of a fire?
- Do parents understand what to expect in the event of an emergency?

For group bookings, we can deliver this course in-house for up to 12 learners.
