What ages does paediatric first aid cover?

A paediatric first aid course covers infants and children under 16-18. This contrasts with adult services, which are meant to serve as a risk response for those older than 16 years old. However, some organizations may choose to have more paediatric first aiders on staff in order to ensure that there is always someone available to provide first aid if needed. Additionally, it is important to ensure that there are enough paediatric first aiders on duty at all times, taking into account staff absences and holidays.

Can you fail a paediatric first aid course?

Yes, it is possible to fail a paediatric first aid course if you do not meet the required standard of knowledge and skills. Paediatric first aid courses are designed to teach essential skills and knowledge necessary to provide first aid to infants and children, and there are certain standards that must be met to successfully complete the course. WHAT DO YOU DO ON A PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSE?

Exams and assessment

As well as being assessed by the trainer throughout the course, learners will take a final assessment.

2 x Multi-choice theory assessments & 7 x Practical demonstrations.

Successful candidates will receive a Level 3 Certificate from Qualsafe Awards.

Learners who take this course should be 16 or over.

Course overview

Our 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid course is made up of 6 hours of hands-on training and 6 hours of at-home online learning. Our eLearning curriculum, which is web-based, interactive, and user-friendly, must be completed prior to the practical day. Learners may access the course materials as many times as they want via a computer/laptop/tabvar or phone. The classroom training session lasts for 6 hours and is delivered by a trainer who will teach you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to respond effectively when pediatric emergencies occur.

EYFS 2021 Update – Blended First Aid meets full guidance.

The Department of Education recognises Blended First Aid in the New EYFS Framework, which will come into effect on September 1st 2021, and that you may rest confident that Skills Training Group meets all of the requirements.

This blended course includes all components of the Emergency Paediatric Course, with a trainer-led practical day and our eLearning module containing only the additional material needed to acquire your Full Paediatric First Aid Certification.

For group bookings, we can deliver this course in-house for up to 12 learners.
