Course overview
If you already hold a valid 18th Edition qualification (City & Guilds 2382-18 or 2382-22), this shorter 1-day update brings you fully up to date with Amendment 4 (BS 7671:2018+A4:2026) and includes the City & Guilds 2382-26 exam.
Modules breakdown
The 1-day course focuses on everything that has changed in Amendment 4 – stationary battery and energy-storage systems, Power over Ethernet (PoE), ICT earthing and bonding, the major revision to medical locations, and energy efficiency – plus how to navigate the orange book for the open-book exam.
Very positive feedback from all staff who were on the training, great trainers and they made the topic interesting and easy to understand.

Who is this course for?
By taking this one-day update you’ll get fully current with Amendment 4 and sit your City & Guilds 2382-26 exam in a focused classroom environment – away from day-to-day distractions and alongside other experienced electricians.
Entry requirement: you must already hold a valid 18th Edition qualification (City & Guilds 2382-18 or 2382-22). If you don’t yet hold the 18th Edition, our full 3-day 18th Edition course is the right starting point.
From 15 October 2026, all new electrical work, design and certification must comply with Amendment 4, and competent-person schemes (NICEIC, NAPIT and others) plus the ECS card scheme expect you to hold the current qualification.
What’s new in Amendment 4
The course focuses on everything that’s changed in the orange book, including:
- New requirements for stationary battery and energy-storage systems
- Power over Ethernet (PoE)
- Functional earthing and bonding for ICT equipment
- A major revision to Medical Locations (Section 710)
- Energy-efficiency updates
As with all our 18th Edition training, you’ll also learn how to navigate the regulations book quickly – essential for the open-book exam.

Exam, the orange book & how to book
The qualification & exam
On successful completion you’ll gain the full City & Guilds 2382-26 Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018+A4:2026) – the current, nationally recognised qualification. You’ll sit a 2-hour, open-book, 60-question multiple-choice exam on the day, so a good working knowledge of the regulations and confident use of the book are essential.
The regulations book
You’ll need the new orange book – BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. The older blue (2018) and brown (A2:2022) editions do not contain the Amendment 4 content and cannot be used in the 2382-26 exam. We have copies available to use during the course; if you’d like your own, please ask our team for the current orange edition.
Please bring photographic ID (passport or driving licence) and provide it at least 5 working days before your course start date.
